shin pangaea enterprises inc in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada is hiring a Sushi preparer at CAD 16.00 to CAD 18.00 per hour for 12 to 30 hours per week. This is a permanent part time leading to full time position with 3 vacancies, starting as soon as possible, on day, evening, night, weekend and shift schedules, working with Japanese cuisine.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods, including complete meals and individual dishes
• Train staff in food preparation, cooking and handling
• Supervise kitchen staff and assistants and oversee kitchen operations
• Plan menus, determine food portion sizes, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
• Place orders for supplies and equipment and keep inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
• Inspect kitchens and food service areas and make sure cooking utensils are clean before each use
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and slightly modify recipes to meet customer needs
• Clean the kitchen and work areas and follow kitchen and hygiene standards
• Recruit and hire staff

Requirements

• Fluent in English
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry
• Certificate in safe food handling
• Proven food preparation and food handling experience and prior restaurant experience
• Good knowledge of cooking methods and techniques and of food hygiene
• Able to follow standardized recipes, work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads

Salary & Benefits
