Laundry worker

Northern Light Inn in L'Anse-au-Clair, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada is hiring a Laundry worker at CAD 16.35 per hour for 35 hours per week. This is a permanent full time position with 2 vacancies, working rotating shifts including early morning, morning, day, evening, night and weekend shifts in a hotel laundry.

Key Responsibilities

• Mix and add detergents, dyes, bleaches, starches and other solutions and chemicals
• Fold and bag shirts, sheets and other items by hand
• Hand-iron laundered fine linens and dry-cleaned silk garments
• Operate finishing equipment such as steam pressers and use hand irons to finish pants, jackets, shirts, skirts and other laundered articles
• Check finished dry-cleaned or laundered articles to ensure they meet establishment standards
• Document any damage or improper cleaning or laundering of articles

Requirements

• Fluent in English
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field
• Able to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Good team player, with an eye for detail and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Criminal record check required
• Comfortable working in hot, wet, noisy conditions and standing for extended periods, under pressure in a fast-paced environment
